Omaha is the largest city in Nebraska situated in the Midwestern United States. Omaha, called “Gateway to the West,” crosses the Missouri River known as Lone Tree Ferry.

Omaha hosted the World fair in 1898, which aided the connection with the rest of the world. Most parts of the city were built at the valley of the river. Therefore, Omaha has an abundant supply of water, situated along the bank of the Missouri River in the eastern part of Nebraska.

Other water bodies supply water to Omaha. These include; Papillion Creek, Lake Manawa, Carter Lake, the Glenn Cunningham Lake, and the Platte River. The water bodies are part of the beauties of the city and also serve as a rich source of Omaha water supply.

Is It Safe To Drink Tap Water In Omaha?

The place of a safe and drinkable source of water for a city cannot be over-emphasized as the effects of inadequate water cannot be hidden owing to the possible resultant health effects on the populace. The rumor which circulated the social media about Omaha water is considered false. FOX 24 also conducted a test for the presence of chemicals and metals such as mercury, manganese, atrazine, nitrates, and lead, and the result showed they were absent.

The results from the various tests conducted on the water were backed up by a press release made by the Metropolitan Utilities District (M.U.D). The Metropolitan Utilities District, which is also the suppliers of the Omaha water, reported that the water was safe. Is Omaha A Safe Place To Live?

Generally, Omaha is a safe city. But like every other city, some neighborhoods are more susceptible to criminal activities. Therefore, it is crucial to arm yourself with adequate information so that you would know what to expect and be cautious.

Bad neighborhoods aside, intending residents of Omaha should be aware of the volatility of the weather in the Midwest and also the fact that Nebraska is in the “tornado alley.” Even in the absence of tornados, the Midwesterners are acquainted with the harsh weather conditions like heavy winds, snowstorms, and intense thunderstorms. With these weather conditions, Midwesterners are always ready for emergencies.

Typically for a large city with so many neighborhoods, there are some challenging neighborhoods. Downtown attracts so many visitors, and it is quite safe. Beautiful by the day, it is quite unpredictable at night because most people with different challenges like the homeless and others are usually on the streets at night.

It would help if you also were cautious of areas with less light or lonely paths. The Old Market area is bustling, and security agents are readily available. The day and the early part of the night at Heartland of America Park and Gene Leahy Mall are considered safe, but late at night, it isn’t reliable since people given to violence might be on the streets.

The Northern region of Omaha has poor records. Violent crimes are reported in this region. There are decaying buildings and barred windows. Northern Omaha also experiences gang-related violence, but the Creighton University area is safer.

South Omaha isn’t as prone to violence as North Omaha, but you have to be careful, especially when walking. Panhandlers can also be seen in most places in Omaha. While waiting for a bus at the bus station, be careful and cautious of your environment. Generally, trust your instincts and use your common sense, and you will have a great time in Omaha.

What Is Omaha Best Known For?

Omaha is a beautiful city founded in 1854. Renowned for its breweries, stockyards, and railroads, Omaha is the home of zoos and aquariums like the Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. The Lied Jungle, which is the biggest indoor rain forest in the United States, is also found in Omaha.

This fantastic city also features the headquarters of five fortune 500 companies: Mutual of Omaha, Con-Agra Foods, Kiewit Corporation, Berkshire Hathaway, and Union Pacific Corporation. Omaha has one of the United States’ leading containment centers. The center is located at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Most of the Ebola patients in the nation were admitted to this containment.

Focused On Developing Innovative Alternatives

Company Overview
GOBIE H2O is a socially responsible, product-based brand, focused on developing innovative alternatives to the inconsiderate consumption and disposal of single-use water bottles.

GOBIE H2O is dedicated to being a role model brand for responsibility and conservation.  We create innovative products that provide an economical, ecological, and healthy alternative to disposable water bottle consumption, while promoting the efforts of organizations who share an aim to make the world a better place.

Development of the Brand
The GOBIE water bottle is the eco-friendly brainchild of artist and designer, Rusty Allen. After earning his degree in Industrial Design from the acclaimed Savannah College of Art and Design, Rusty packed his bags and headed to the sunny  beaches of California.  Five years into a diverse career as an industrial designer, he found himself working on a broad spectrum of high-end products, everything from celestial lighting to CAT-scan machines.  Making a pivotal career decision, he decided to use his skills to develop a breakthrough product that does something great for the environment, while helping people save money during the downturned economy.  He realized his dream and wanted to follow his optimistic ambition.

At that time, the media was filled with negative event after negative event: natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the discovery of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and the alarming estimate of 600,000 plastic water bottles being thrown away by Americans every 15 minutes.  Always ready for a challenge – and knowing he had the skills and drive to help make a change – Rusty made that pivotal decision.  He quit his job and made a commitment to developing something meaningful, something unique, and something that would ultimately help reverse the devastating impact disposable plastic waste has on the planet.

Rusty’s most daunting challenge was to design something absolutely basic, but absolutely essential.  This product needed to be as useful as it was beautiful, if it was going to make a considerable difference in people’s lives.   Marrying form to function, Rusty created GOBIE, the world’s first, fully portable, daily-use, reusable, zero-waste, filtered water bottle.  Since its creation, the product has won awards, changed lives, and has ultimately lived up to its core mission, helping alleviate plastic waste.

Filtered Water Bottle

GOBIE h2o is an innovative and compelling design solution to the everyday problems involving water consumption. GOBIE is a patented, zero-waste, daily-use, filtered, portable, reusable, water bottle. It took three years in research and development to perfect this innovative design – a fully functional, extremely durable, incredibly elegant, water companion. The bottle’s form draws attention, its function is necessary, and together they offer the ultimate solution to the significant adverse environmental impact of disposable, single-use water bottles: a design perfected at a time when its need could not be more relevant.

GOBIE h2o is convenient, comfortable to carry, and easy to refill from any faucet, fountain, or spigot that provides potable water. It enhances the flavor of tap water by eliminating unnecessary additives, facilitating adequate hydration.

The bottle’s ingenious shape hints at the organic contours of the goby fish, augmenting its overall fluid design. The thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) lined finger loop doubles as its cap storage, preventing loss and enhancing the entire intuitive design concept. The independent dust cap has breather holes which prevent mildew and eliminate the potential for choking if swallowed- an added safety feature. Unlike conventional tips, the TPE mouth piece is ergonomically shaped to fit your mouth. The patented squeeze grip allows you to push water through the filtration system, keeping the bottle durable, while obviating the necessity to suck water through the filter. Filling the bottle with water and ice is easy through its expanded aperture, which also makes it easy to clean with a sponge. The blue, TPE lined base prevents slipping and overturning in cup holders, and provides a contrasting color, elegantly completing its aesthetic appeal, much like a pair of fine shoes. The patented filtration system both intrigues the user by being fully visible and offers the distinctive look of form marrying function.

The bottle’s shell is made from Tritan Plastic, the highest grade plastic in its class. It has zero BPA’s, is heat resilient (so it is dishwasher safe), is chemical resilient (so it can be washed with all standard cleaning products), and is extremely durable (so it will last forever). Kept properly, this product will out last you – the plastic does not degrade.

The heart of GOBIE is a certified, green, active carbon block filter trapped in a sonically welded casing formed from bioplastic made of organic matter (which can be anything ranging from corn to algae). This filtration system makes GOBIE the first 100% biodegradable unit, the birth of a net zero-waste water bottle.

GOBIE’s design takes the Seventh Generation principle to heart, by not cutting corners or shaving costs that would compromise the overall integrity of the bottle. GOBIE replaces trash with regenerative design, utilizing everyday functionality with masterful form. GOBIE is your everyday water companion.

Purified Water Bottles

Purified water bottles are a critical element in the battle for the health of the planet. Most people are not aware of the terrible effects of disposable plastic water bottles and the huge volume of waste material they become after use. To address this growing problem, Gobie H2O has created a re-usable purified water bottle that has eliminated the need to add to landfills yet gives you the highest quality water.

Gobie’s purified water bottles use a state-of-the-art filter to create hundreds of gallons of purified water before it must be replaced. This high-tech solution uses activated carbon, one of nature’s best filtering materials. Carbon is a naturally porous organic filter that traps harsh chemicals and other contaminants. When activated, it also adds an electrical charge to the filter that attracts many other impurities, keeping them out of the water that you drink. In keeping with the commitment to minimize pollution, the filter itself is made from coconut shells in an eco-friendly manufacturing process and is completely biodegradable. After you have enjoyed hundreds of gallons of purified water, you can rest easily, knowing that the used filter will not add to the planet’s problems.

Gobie H2O has created a product that you will love to use. Ergonomically designed to fit your hand and mouth, it also looks great and has a non-skid base as well as a very creative rubber ring for carrying the bottle when you are using it.

Get on the bandwagon and do your part to eliminate the waste created by disposable water bottles. Pick up a purified water bottle or replacement filter made by Gobie H2O. You can order them online at where you can also find out more about our purified water bottle and how it contributes to a healthier planet.

Eco-Friendly Water Bottle

As of 2006, Americans spent $15 billion on bottled water, and they threw 38 billion water bottles into landfills. In a time when environmental concerns grow more pressing, the fast and easy alternatives our culture has come to love should embrace more environmentally friendly choices that are also convenient. The Gobie H2O eco-friendly water bottle is one of those environmentally friendly and convenient options.

The Gobie H2O is an eco-friendly reusable water bottle, meaning your carbon footprint is reduced by the purchase and use of it. This eco-friendly water bottle has an active carbon filter constructed from coconuts, making it an even more environmentally considerate product. The lush coconut tree provides a renewable resource that also produces oxygen. Further to its environmental benefits, its filter is 100% compostable, and it allows you to filter up to 100 gallons of regular tap water before it needs to be replaced. That amounts to 800 less plastic water bottles discarded when you choose this eco-friendly water bottle. Filtration of your water is made easy by the squeeze button, which forces water through the filter on the way out.

This eco-friendly reusable water bottle is made from Tritan plastic, which is scratch resistant and shatterproof. The plastic is clear, which allows you to easily see when your water bottle needs to be cleaned, or how much water you have left. Tritan plastic is also heat resistant, making this eco-friendly water bottle dishwasher-safe.

Considering the amount of waste a consumer produces in a day, one person can make a great difference toward cleaning up our environment. This eco-friendly reusable water bottle is an affordable and considerate choice consumers can make to help reduce their negative impact on our planet.
